Last week we had a great week filled with fun activities that were all carried out through Irish. Huge thanks to Mr Davern for organising the week and to all teachers who took part and helped in any way.
On Monday and Tuesday last, we held Caifé Naomh Cilian in the sport hall in our school. Here, students were given the opportunity to purchase treats and play games while practicing their Irish.
On Wednesday, students took part in Tráth na gCeist. Students competed in small groups as a class level to answer quiz questions in Irish.
On Thursday, the whole school took part in ‘Ceolchoirm 23’. This was a great showcase of the talents that exist within the school. We were treated to the very talented Irish dancing skills of two 3rd class pupils Alanna O’ Reilly and Ella Barry as well as performances of the Walls of Limerick and the Siege of Ennis from the 4th class students. Each class performed a song in Irish. We were also delighted to hear traditional Irish music from Mr. Dignam, Mr. Heneghan, Ms O’Brien and our student teacher Ms Kirby. Niamh, one of our SNAs, also treated us to a beautiful rendition of Caledonia. We finished off the week with the whole school singing our national anthem Amhrán na bhFiann.
