On May 24th 2018, the two third classes went on a trip to the Green door market. We went to taste lots of fruit and vegetables. I really liked the apple and mango drink. We as tasted strawberries, orange, watermelon, carrot, cherry tomatos and lots more. Next, we planted seeds. On the way out we got apples and ate them on the bus. I read my book on the way home. I had a great day! BY:Katie Wright 3rd Class
A mixed group of 20 students from 5th & 6th went on an exciting trip to Amazon HQ last week with Ms. Stapleton and Ms. Power. Abbie & Seona wrote about their day:
We had an amazing trip to Amazon last month. I learned a lot about technology and the cloud. We learned about the amazon Alexa and we even got to use it too! We used an animation tablet to make characters come to life, we got a goodie bag at the end and we were delighted for the experience we got. By Abbie Lynn
We went to amazon on a bus, it was such a good experience and was very fun and I learned a lot. We got free goodie bags and free smoothies and it was just all round a great day and I would love to go back. By Seona Riordan
Each year St. Kilian’s SNS participate in South Dublin County Council’s Cross Country Athletics. This year was no different. After a series of trials 48 athletes were selected 6 boys and 6 girls from classes 3rd to 6th. They trained twice weekly and competed 3 times in Butler Magee park. They ran distances of 300m, 400m, 500m and 600m. This then culminated in a final outing last week in Corkagh Park where 3400 children from South County Dublin competed. Every athlete from St Kilian’s gave 100% both in participation , support of each other and behaviour. Ms Stapleton and Ms Power were honoured to accompany these wonderful young athletes , they represented our school with pride.
Well done all.
On Thursday 3rd of May 15 5th class pupils had a great trip to Milano’s with an early start of 8:30am and then onto the EPIC emigration museum:
Shannon Tyndall tells us how it went:
Our second school trip was awesome. I had so much fun. First of all we walked down to the Luas. We got the Luas to town. It was very busy. We got off at Mayor Square and walked around to Milanos. Then in Milanos we learned about what is used to make a pizza. We played some games and completed an activity sheet. Next we made some pizzas with dough, sauce, cheese. oregano and pepper were optional. I put oregano on mine. They cooked the pizzas. Then we ate them. We could only make Margerita pizzas. Finally we walked up to Epic emigration museum. It was full of electronic stuff. Our tour guides were Graham and Daniel. After our tour it was back on the Luas to school.
On Tuesday 1st of May 15 5th class pupils went on a walking tour of Tallaght Village:
Alex Meehan tells us about the day:
Our Class Trip around Tallaght
First we walked up to the Luas and we went to Rua Red. We met Tomás Maher a local historian. First he showed St Maelruain’s church. We climbed the tower. There was a big bell at the top. After that we looked at some famous graves. We then looked at the remains of a castle in the grounds of the Dominican Priory. We went into the garden there and saw an enormous tree called St.Maelruain’s Tree.
There was a walkway with loads of trees either side. It was called the friar’s Walk. We then waked through ITT. We saw an artificial pond that helps prevent flooding. Finally we went into the Civic Theatre and got ice cream. A Luas ride back to school completed our trip.
