Laudate 2024 – School Choir

The school choir took part in Laudate 2024 on Wednesday. This was a fantastic concert with 11 other schools from Dublin and it was run by the Dublin Diocese. The children all really enjoyed the night and they received many compliments for their enthusiasm and wonderful singing. A huge thank you to Mr. Dignam, Ms. O’Sullivan and Ms. Duggan for preparing the choir for this wonderful event. Scroll down to have a listen to some of the songs they sang!

Interviews

This week, Mr. Dignam’s class conducted two interviews. The first interview was with Aoife Murray who works in aviation in Met Éireann. Met Éireann got in contact with the class when they heard about their project for the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition. Aoife told the class all about her work with Met Éireann and all about the different things she uses to measure the weather. The next interview was with Seán Doherty, an Irish composer whose music is performed all around the world. He told us all about his work and how he writes music. It was so interesting!

St Kilian’s SNS Quiz Teams

On Sunday the 29th of January, our quiz teams took part in the first round of the Credit Union Quiz. It was a very successful day for the teams. In the junior category our teams placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd and in the senior category our teams came 1st and 2nd! The two teams who came 1st in their categories now advance to the Dublin finals. Well done to everyone involved and a special thank you to Mr. Dignam for organising and leading the teams.

BT Young Scientists

On Thursday, a group from Mr Dignam’s 4th class went to the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition to represent their class project “Can You Really Forecast the Weather?”. They had a wonderful day and got to meet lots of great people including Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth of Ireland, Roderic O’Gorman.

Our students also made it onto the Irish Times website, check it out here! https://www.irishtimes.com/science/2024/01/11/primary-pupils-conduct-human-versus-ai-test-and-investigate-fast-fashion-and-weather-forecast-accuracy/
